Tara Maxey co-founded, was a partner/operator, as well as acting as the original pastry chef for high profile Southern California caterer Heirloom LA. Launched during the recession of 2008, Heirloom LA emerged as a force in Los Angeles as the go-to caterer for celebrity and corporate full and limited service catering.
HLA grew to over 100 employees, and diversified to include a food truck that was named “The Best Gourmet Food Truck” by Los Angeles Magazine.
As the Director of Marketing for HLA, Tara oversaw a multitude of marketing efforts, and secured features in the LA Times, NY Times, Wall Street Journal, Vogue, People Magazine, and many others. Her efforts also generated prominent social media coverage and an acclaimed we presence during her tenure.
During the pandemic, Tara led her team to pivot overnight into an online ordering food delivery service. She also launched Meals for People, a non-profit that raised over $150k to feed high need families in the area, which also garnered press, stabilized internal culture, generated brand goodwill, and increased visibility.
In 2022, Tara sold her shares in HLA, and currently works with other businesses and non-profits on marketing related topics.
